Frederick, MD – Regent Education, the leading provider of financial aid management Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solutions for public and private higher education institutions is pleased to announce the appointment of Lori Shaffer as Senior Vice President for Strategy and Corporate Development.
Before joining Regent, Shaffer was Vice President of Finance for Education Management Corporation (EDMC), which is among the largest private post-secondary career-focused education providers in North America, where she was responsible for various aspects of financial aid throughout the school network. Prior to that, Shaffer has held key positions with College Loan Corporation (CLC) including vice presidential assignments in strategic operations as well as product development. Shaffer was also the Director of Financial Aid System Development and Lender Relations for almost eight years at Apollo Group/University of Phoenix—the largest for-profit school in the United States.
“Lori will play a critical role in helping Regent further develop solutions and expand our capabilities into the For-Profit/Non-Term market segments,” said Randy Jones, Regent CEO.
At Regent, Shaffer will be responsible for corporate strategy as well as channel development for Regent’s core products. She will also be involved in sales, product development, and product management efforts, helping to define and refine existing capabilities and introduce new and valuable features within our products.
“Regent has a top-notch and energized team,” says Shaffer. “I’ve been continually impressed by everyone’s commitment, drive and capacity for innovation. A great team, a great product, a shared vision for the future and an opportunity to collaborate and deliver relevant, useful, efficient and powerful tools for the For-Profit/Non-Term market segment—all of these things made this the right place for me to be.”
While at EDMC, Shaffer led several initiatives including the design and management of a scalable online admissions and financial planning application process, a web-based CRM system to improve efficiency for enrollment and finance counselors, as well as managing the lender, originator and servicer relationships for a $100M alternative private student loan product.
“Lori has deep experience in just about all aspects of the higher education industry, as well as ‘in-the-trenches’ technology implementation experience,” said Jones. “We are all incredibly excited about having her added to the executive team and know that she’s going to make a tremendous contribution towards the success of Regent.”
